The idea behind The Empty Guest was born when My wife called a stranger she had met at a political rally. They had really hit it off and my wife remembered that her new friend lived a few minutes away from our youngest daughter who was expecting her first child.

My wife asked this nearly complete stranger if they had a spare room she could use for a bit while waiting on our new grandchild to be born. This stranger said yes! And, an idea was born.

Let's face it, in the later years of our lives, our social circle gets smaller. I don't think 2 months go by that I don't read about another friend from high school passing away. Wouldn't it be great to expand your group of friends instead? How about if these new friends were spread around the country? Maybe places you wanted to visit but never had a good enough reason.
